Chlamydia (Chlamydia Trachomatis) is the most commonly reported bacterial sexually transmitted disease (STD) in the US and is one of the leading causes of infertility in women. Infection of the genital tract is the most common clinical presentation. The incubation period is 1-4 weeks.

Although patients with any sexually transmitted disease (STD) are at increased risk of co-infection with another STD, co-infection of chlamydia and gonorrhea is most common. 40% of women and 25% of men with chlamydial infection are co-infected with gonorrhea.

This First Diagnostic Chlamydia Test Kit is a qualitative immunoassay using a secretory specimen and urine from the urogenital system for detecting Chlamydia Trachomatis antibodies for both women and men. Using the latest in Colloidal Gold Technology (20 times sensitivity).

Medical Note: Coinfection of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (GC) is very common. In fact, up to half of patients diagnosed with either infection may be infected with both and, therefore, it is important to test for both Chlamydia and Gonorrhea at the same time.
