There are at least five types of hepatitis caused by different hepatitis viruses. Hepatitis A, hepatitis B and hepatitis C are the most common types found in the United States. Hepatitis A is caused by hepatitis A virus (HAV), hepatitis B, is caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV, HBsAg, Anti-HBs, HBeAg, Anti-HBe and Anti HBc), and hepatitis C is caused by hepatitis C virus (HCV).
